An exhibition called “Morocco, its Land, its Nature and its people: painting and graphism”, with paintings by Prof. Arch. Todor Boulev, was opened at the Central House of Architects in Sofia. It was organized under the patronage of H. E. Mrs. Zakiya E. Midaoui, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Bulgaria. Ambassadors and other diplomats, accredited to Bulgaria, as well as many friends of Morocco were present at the opening ceremony.

H. E. Mrs. Zakiya E. Midaoui addressed the audience with the following greeting:

“Thank you Mme Svetlozara Chahanova, Vice-Chairman of the Board of the Union of the Bulgarian architects for giving me the floor.

Excellences, Friends, Ladies and Gentlemen,

I thank all the partners of this exhibition for their initiative, which I highly appreciate, because it contributes to spread the wealth of the Moroccan culture in this beautiful city of Sofia, where abound ideas, artistic and cultural projects in all sectors.

I am particularly grateful to the Architect Dr Georgui Bakalov, Chairman of the Board of the Union of the Bulgarian Architects, with whom the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in the Republic of Bulgaria, organizes this varnishing painting of the Professor Architect and artist Painter Todor Boulev, calledMorocco, its Land, its Nature and its people: painting and graphism”.

During this varnishing is exposed a part of the paintings which the artist Painter Mr Todor Boulev realized during his recent tourist journey in Morocco and which represents landscapes of the Atlas Mountains, the Berber villages, some imperial towns like Marrakech, Meknes, Fes, Rabat, as well as the Moroccan Kasbahs.

It is not the first trip to Morocco of the artist painter Todor Boulev, who visited Fes during the 1980s, where he worked as expert approved with the UNESCO. In fact, he is also a specialist in the town planning and the history of the architecture.

He already organized two other painting exhibitions on Morocco 10 years ago on his previous journeys in Morocco.

In Sofia, he is among those architects who had constructed the actual Embassy of Vatican (apostolic Nuncio).

Excellences, Friends, Ladies and Gentlemen,

This exhibition features, through these beautiful paintings, an African and Arab country full of vigor, vitality, and hope. The artistic frames displayed here reflect also the friendly feeling of Bulgarian people towards the Moroccan people.

That why I would like to take this opportunity to express my deep and sincere thanks to you Mr Todor Boulev for your interest about my country, the Kingdom of Morocco, that has fascinated travellers around the world for Centuries.

Finally, on behalf of the Moroccan Embassy to the Republic of Bulgaria, let me extend my warm and sincere welcome to all of you for attending this painting exhibition opening event, which marks the 62nd anniversary of the three glorious celebrations of the Kingdom of Morocco, which are the Return of Late King Mohammed the Fifth from exile, the Renaissance and the Independence Day.

All these three celebrations symbolize the triumph of the will of the Throne and the Moroccan people in the national fight for the freedom, the independence and the unity.

Excellences, Friends, Ladies and Gentlemen,

Once you have admired these beautiful paintings, the Architect Dr Georgui Bakalov, Chairman of the Board of the Union of the Bulgarian Architects, our artist painter Mr Todor Boulev and I invite you to taste and savor the Moroccan tea with mint as well as the pastry of my country and, of course, some Moroccan food.

Thank you!”

The Chairman of the Board of the Union of the Bulgarian Architects, Arch. Dr Georgui Bakalov, too, greeted those who attended the opening ceremony. He awarded H. E. Mrs. Zakiya E. Midaoui with a Diploma and a medal, recognizing her as a Honorary Member of the Union of the Bulgarian Architects. After the opening ceremony the attendees could taste delicious traditional Moroccan dishes and the famous peppermint tea.
